Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 1,408: Rondure.

So I did some more warmup tonight. I think it’s helping me focus, as well as underscore the fact that I don’t draw humans nearly enough. Maybe I’ll get better at it if I stop putting so much importance into it like I am (so far, anyhow) with my warmup sketching.

Anyhow, I hound myself musing over the profusion of pokey bits that there seem to be lately (why so many chin spurs? I have no idea, but they usually seem to make sense), and decided to try to draw a dragon with as many rounded non-sharp edges as possible:

In hindsight, that was probably not the best idea, at least not if I am trying to draw something Badass and Dramatic, but I’m not displeased with how it came out. I ended up going a little ram on the snout as well as the horns, which didn’t quite work out the way I thought it would.

Initially, I was thinking of somehow making the underbelly shiny or something instead of standard vague corrugations, but I didn’t quite know how to accomplish this. Ah well.
