Dragon-A-Day Online: Day 1,018: Unlimited Scaling.

Like the honeycomb in a beehive, a snake’s body scale pattern seems to flow endlessly and with perfect geometry.

Which is probably why I was daunted, then stymied by the task of scaling the flanks and underbelly of this serpentine dragon:

I was stuck on what to do with transitioning between the obviously snakelike scale pattern of the face and the hornlets at the edges of the head, then I remembered the Horned Viper, which just has lots of smaller scales leading up to the horns themselves, and I riffed off of that. The scales of the body were turning out too vexing, so I admitted defeat; it’s going to be a long day at work tomorrow and I would rather not go to bed absurdly late (or angry for that matter, though I’m a little disappointed that I couldn’t bring myself to finish it).
