So over on the newly revamped Facebook (whose “friend activity tab” does not show this activity) a friend of mine whom I shall refer to as the amusingly apropos moniker of “The Claw” made the following suggestion:
So Phil I was just thinking of how you dislike backgrounds and then the thought hit me that the dragon could be eating the background…any chances for a city devouring dragon, complete with pieces of buildings dripping from his mouth??
So, with that in mind, I did this:
I kind of forgot about the art direction while working on this and was only trying to come up with a way to have a dragon eating the background without making myself unhappy, for I really do dislike drawing backgrounds*- I’d rather be working on the anatomy of a creature or even the minutiae of an object than determining the way that buildings cast shadows on one another, trying to get my trees and rocks to look believable or looking at architectural references- simply put, they bore me.
I’ll have to go back and do something along the lines of a structure-eating dragon, which is actually a lot more straightforward, as I’ve done something like that before.
Anyhow, make sure you get a vegetable; I’m off to bed.
*I’m perfectly aware that this is something that I need to work on getting over, but I’m just being honest.
